Matthew 3:16-17
King James Version
16 And Jesus,
when he was baptized,
went up straightway out of the water:
and, lo,
the heavens were opened unto him,
and he saw the Spirit of God
descending like a dove,
and lighting upon him:
17 And lo a voice from heaven,
saying,
This is my beloved Son,
in whom I am well pleased.
How much do you know about the HOLY SPIRIT of GOD?
The Holy Spirit is a gift from God, prayed for by JESUS, to teach us, to comfort us, and to help us remember His teachings.
These verses speak of the connection of JESUS with the HOLY SPIRIT of GOD.
God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit.
Acts 10:38
King James Version
38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth
with the Holy Ghost
and with power:
who went about doing good,
and healing all
that were oppressed of the devil;
for God was with him.
John the Baptist spoke of how Jesus will baptize us.
Matthew 3:11-12
King James Version
11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance.
but he that cometh after me is mightier than I,
whose shoes I am not worthy to bear:
he shall baptize you
with the Holy Ghost,
and with fire:
12 Whose fan is in his hand,
and he will throughly purge his floor,
and gather his wheat into the garner;
but he will burn up the chaff
with unquenchable fire.
Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness,
to face temptation.
Luke 4:1-2
King James Version
4 And Jesus
being full of the Holy Ghost
returned from Jordan,
and was led by the Spirit
into the wilderness,
2 Being forty days tempted of the devil.
And in those days he did eat nothing:
and when they were ended,
he afterward hungered.
Jesus prayed to God to give us the Comforter --
the Spirit of truth.
John 14:15-17
King James Version
15 If ye love me,
keep my commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father,
and he shall give you another Comforter,
that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth;
whom the world cannot receive,
because it seeth him not,
neither knoweth him:
but ye know him;
for he dwelleth with you,
and shall be in you.
Jesus left us the Comforter,
to teach us all things.
John 14:26
King James Version
26 But the Comforter,
which is the Holy Ghost,
whom the Father will send in my name,
he shall teach you all things,
and bring all things to your remembrance,
whatsoever I have said unto you.
Jesus asked His disciples to teach,
and baptize all nations.
Matthew 28:18-20
King James Version
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them,
saying,
All power is given unto me
in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore,
and teach all nations,
baptizing them
in the name of the Father,
and of the Son,
and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe
all things whatsoever I have commanded you:
and, lo,
I am with you always,
even unto the end of the world.
Amen.
Jesus explained the functions of the Holy Spirit.
John 16:7-14
King James version
7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth;
It is expedient for you that I go away:
for if I go not away,
the Comforter will not come unto you;
but if I depart,
I will send him unto you.
8 And when he is come,
he will reprove the world of sin,
and of righteousness,
and of judgment:
9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father,
and ye see me no more;
11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
12 I have yet many things to say unto you,
but ye cannot bear them now.
13 Howbeit when he,
the Spirit of truth,
is come,
he will guide you into all truth:
for he shall not speak of himself;
but whatsoever he shall hear,
that shall he speak:
and he will shew you things to come.
14 He shall glorify me:
for he shall receive of mine,
and shall shew it unto you.
The Spirit of God raised Jesus from the dead,
with the same promise for us.
Romans 8:11
King James Version
11 But if the Spirit of him
that raised up Jesus from the dead
dwell in you,
he that raised up Christ from the dead
shall also quicken your mortal bodies
by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
How we are gifted the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2:38
King James Version
38 Then Peter said unto them,
Repent,
and be baptized
every one of you
in the name of Jesus Christ
for the remission of sins,
and ye shall receive
the gift of the Holy Ghost.
