2 Corinthians 6:16
King James Version
16 And what agreement
hath the temple of God with idols?
for ye are the temple of the living God;
as God hath said,
I will dwell in them,
and walk in them;
and I will be their God,
and they shall be my people.
Have we any idea how sacred our bodies are?
And how precious we are in the eyes of God?
Scripture compared our bodies to the following:
As "temple of God", and "holy".
1 Corinthians 3:16-17
King James Version
16 Know ye not
that ye are the temple of God,
and that the Spirit of God
dwelleth in you?
17 If any man defile the temple of God,
him shall God destroy;
for the temple of God is holy,
which temple ye are.
As "temple of the Holy Ghost".
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
King James Version
19 What?
know ye not that your body
is the temple of the Holy Ghost
which is in you,
which ye have of God,
and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price:
therefore glorify God in your body,
and in your spirit,
which are God's.
And because we were "bought with a price" -- the precious blood of JESUS CHRIST -- we are to be "holy, acceptable unto GOD":
Romans 12:1-2
King James Version
12 I beseech you therefore, brethren,
by the mercies of God,
that ye present your bodies
a living sacrifice,
holy,
acceptable unto God,
which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world:
but be ye transformed
by the renewing of your mind,
that ye may prove what is that good,
and acceptable,
and perfect,
will of God.
Because our body is the TEMPLE of the HOLY SPIRIT, God wants us to treat it with respect.
Leviticus 19:28
King James Version
28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh
for the dead,
nor print any marks upon you:
I am the Lord.
We are not to sin against our own body.
1 Corinthians 6:18
King James Version
18 Flee fornication.
Every sin that a man doeth is without the body;
but he that committeth fornication
sinneth against his own body.
And yet, the world is steeped in sin, and we are all guilty to many degrees.
The world belongs to the enemy, who aims to constantly defile our minds, bodies, and spirits.
He aims to destroy our souls, and to mock God.
Now that we know our bodies were ransomed by Jesus, at the cost of His own blood, and that it is the temple of the Holy Spirit, we must not grieve the HOLY SPIRIT any longer.
Ephesians 4:30
King James Version
30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God,
whereby ye are sealed
unto the day of redemption.
We must ask for forgiveness, and sin no more.
Acts 3:19
King James Version
19 Repent ye therefore,
and be converted,
that your sins may be blotted out,
when the times of refreshing shall come
from the presence of the Lord.
JESUS said:
Matthew 5:48
King James Version
48 Be ye therefore perfect,
even as your Father
which is in heaven
is perfect.
In perfect obedience to the desire of His FATHER:
Leviticus 19:1-2
King James Version
19 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
2 Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel,
and say unto them,
Ye shall be holy:
for I the Lord your God am holy.
When you serve the Lord, there can be no alibis.
Only a desire to know His Truth.
To love Him.
And to do the Father's will.
That's why you have to be born again.
After which, the HOLY SPIRIT will guide us to JESUS, who will bring us back to GOD.
