Luke 12:24
King James Version
24 Consider the ravens:
for they neither sow nor reap;
which neither have storehouse nor barn;
and God feedeth them:
how much more are ye better
than the fowls?
Do we doubt the power of the Lord?
Can't He supply everything we need?
Just that, what we think we need are not the things He cares about, for these are in direct defiance of His commandments.
We have become beholden to the world.
The world is greatly obsessed with what to wear, what to eat, if we look the best, if we're the most popular, if we're the smartest, if we drive the best cars, if we live in the best and biggest homes, or if there's enough.
On, and on, it goes.
The obsession with the things of the world.
The corruption of our minds, bodies, and spirits.
We are captive to fear, and greed.
It's all vanity.
But watch what Scripture says in these verses.
Because our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost, we must not be conformed to the world:
Romans 12:2 (KJV)
2 And be not conformed to this world:
but be ye transformed
by the renewing of your mind,
that ye may prove what is that good,
and acceptable,
and perfect,
will of God.
Our bodies are holy, and God's, bought at a price, our lives bought with the blood of Jesus, everything must be for God's glory alone.
1 Corinthians 10:31 (KJV)
31 Whether therefore ye eat,
or drink,
or whatsoever ye do,
do all to the glory of God.
God knows the world.
God knows our heart.
He knows what we must focus on, so we may truly live.
Luke 12:22-32 (KJV)
22 And he said unto his disciples,
Therefore I say unto you,
Take no thought for your life,
what ye shall eat;
neither for the body,
what ye shall put on.
23 The life is more than meat,
and the body is more than raiment.
24 Consider the ravens:
for they neither sow nor reap;
which neither have storehouse nor barn;
and God feedeth them:
how much more are ye better
than the fowls?
25 And which of you with taking thought
can add to his stature one cubit?
26 If ye then be not able to do that thing
which is least,
why take ye thought for the rest?
27 Consider the lilies how they grow:
they toil not,
they spin not;
and yet I say unto you,
that Solomon in all his glory
was not arrayed like one of these.
28 If then God so clothe the grass,
which is to day in the field,
and to morrow is cast into the oven;
how much more will he clothe you,
O ye of little faith?
29 And seek not ye what ye shall eat,
or what ye shall drink,
neither be ye of doubtful mind.
30 For all these things
do the nations of the world seek after:
and your Father knoweth
that ye have need of these things.
31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God;
and all these things shall be added unto you.
32 Fear not,
little flock;
for it is your Father's good pleasure
to give you the kingdom.
God, the Father, is a generous God.
Luke 11:11-13 (KJV)
11 If a son shall ask bread
of any of you that is a father,
will he give him a stone?
or if he ask a fish,
will he for a fish give him a serpent?
12 Or if he shall ask an egg,
will he offer him a scorpion?
13 If ye then,
being evil,
know how to give good gifts unto your children:
how much more shall your heavenly Father
give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
But the Lord is more concerned our souls be right with Him, for He has power to destroy both soul and body.
Matthew 10:28 (KJV)
28 And fear not them which kill the body,
but are not able to kill the soul:
but rather fear him
which is able to destroy
both soul and body in hell.
We are not to be afraid of lack, we are simply to trust God, and know everything will be done through Jesus.
Philippians 4:19 (KJV)
19 But my God shall supply all your need
according to his riches in glory
by Christ Jesus.
