Facets of the Holy Spirit

"free spirit"

Psalm 51:12

King James Version

12 Restore unto me

the joy of thy salvation;

and uphold me

with thy free spirit.

Many evangelists admit the Holy Spirit is not spoken of much.

But look what the BIBLE revealed.

Here are the titles, names, and descriptions -- FACETS -- of the Holy Spirit, which Spirit Himself led me to.

I marveled at the volume of material I found!

"God is a Spirit"

John 4:24 (KJV)

24 God is a Spirit

and they that worship him

must worship him in spirit

and in truth.

"breath of the Almighty"

Job 33:4 (KJV)

4 The spirit of God hath made me,

and the breath of the Almighty

hath given me life.

"Holy Ghost",

Acts 5:3-4 (KJV)

3 But Peter said,

why hath Satan filled thine heart

to lie to the Holy Ghost

and to keep back part of the price of the land?

4 Whiles it remained,

was it not thine own?

and after it was sold,

was it not in thine own power?

why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart?

thou hast not lied unto men,

but unto God.

2 Corinthians 3:16-17 (KJV)

16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord,

the vail shall be taken away.

17 Now the Lord is that Spirit:

and where the Spirit of the Lord is,

there is liberty.

"power of the Highest"

Luke 1:35 (KJV)

35 And the angel answered and said unto her,

The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee,

and the power of the Highest

shall overshadow thee

therefore also that holy thing

which shall be born of thee

shall be called the Son of God.

"Spirit of God",

"Spirit of Christ"

Genesis 1:2 (KJV)

2 And the earth was without form,

and void;

and darkness was upon the face of the deep.

And the Spirit of God

moved upon the face of the waters.

1 Corinthians 2:11 (KJV)

11 For what man knoweth the things of a man,

save the spirit of man which is in him?

even so the things of God knoweth no man,

but the Spirit of God.

Romans 8:9 (KJV)

9 But ye are not in the flesh,

but in the Spirit,

if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you.

Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ,

he is none of his.

"spirit of glory and of God"

1 Peter 4:14 (KJV)

14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ,

happy are ye;

for the spirit of glory and of God

resteth upon you

on their part he is evil spoken of,

but on your part he is glorified.

"Spirit of the living God"

2 Corinthians 3:3 (KJV)

3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared

to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us,

written not with ink,

but with the Spirit of the living God

not in tables of stone,

but in fleshy tables of the heart.

"Spirit of your Father"

Matthew 10:20 (KJV)

20 For it is not ye that speak,

but the Spirit of your Father

which speaketh in you.

"Spirit of his Son"

6 And because ye are sons,

God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son

into your hearts,

Abba, Father.

"another Comforter"

John 14:16 (KJV)

16 And I will pray the Father,

and he shall give you another Comforter

that he may abide with you for ever;

John 14:26 (KJV)

26 But the Comforter,

which is the Holy Ghost,

whom the Father will send in my name,

he shall teach you all things

and bring all things to your remembrance,

whatsoever I have said unto you.

"Spirit of truth"

John 14:17 (KJV)

17 Even the Spirit of truth;

whom the world cannot receive

because it seeth him not,

neither knoweth him:

but ye know him;

for he dwelleth with you,

and shall be in you.

John 15:26 (KJV)

26 But when the Comforter is come,

whom I will send unto you from the Father,

even the Spirit of truth,

which proceedeth from the Father,

he shall testify of me:

and of the fear of the Lord;

"spirit of grace and of supplications"

Zechariah 12:10 (KJV)

10 And I will pour upon the house of David,

and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem,

the spirit of grace and of supplications

and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced,

and they shall mourn for him,

as one mourneth for his only son,

and shall be in bitterness for him,

as one that is in bitterness

for his firstborn.

"Spirit of grace"

Hebrews 10:29 (KJV)

29 Of how much sorer punishment,

suppose ye,

shall he be thought worthy,

who hath trodden under foot the Son of God,

and hath counted the blood of the covenant,

wherewith he was sanctified,

an unholy thing,

and hath done despite

unto the Spirit of grace?

"eternal Spirit"

who through the eternal Spirit

offered himself without spot to God

purge your conscience

from dead works

to serve the living God?

10 And I fell at his feet to worship him.

and the opening of the prison

to them that are bound;

"voice of the Almighty"

Ezekiel 1:24 (KJV)

24 And when they went,

I heard the noise of their wings,

like the noise of great waters,

as the voice of the Almighty

the voice of speech,

as the noise of an host:

when they stood,

they let down their wings.

Matthew 4:1 (KJV)

4 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit

into the wilderness

which cannot be uttered.

The Paradox of Simplicity

Psalm 19:7

King James Version

7 The law of the Lord is perfect,

converting the soul:

the testimony of the Lord is sure,

making wise the simple.

That's my favorite image of a coffee cup.

That's my approach in life -- simplicity.

And that's also how I approach studying the Bible.

In all simplicity.

My objective is to understand the Word of God, just as God said it, so I can share it with you, as is.

I cannot pretend to be a theologian, for I'm not.

Neither am I an intellectual.

I like things simple.

With heart.

With GOD in it.

Like an excited child, I await SPIRIT's instructions each moment.

For He reveals so many treasures each day.

I do not get ahead of God.

I wait.

I approach God like as an eager child would.

Hopping and skipping alongside Jesus, who looks amusedly at me, knowing every now and then, I will pepper Him with questions.

The rest of the time, I'm content merely holding His hand, my tiny hand in His.

And all of the time, I listen to what He wants to say, or what He wants done.

I don't act, until I've received WORD.

My ear permanently glued to His heart.

And His heart permanently in mine.

That's how I write all my blogs.

Always guided by the LORD's SPIRIT.

I pray, I wait, I listen.

Why do people think the Word of God is difficult?

Jesus is simple.

2 Corinthians 11:3

King James Version

3 But I fear,

lest by any means,

as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty,

so your minds should be corrupted

from the simplicity that is in Christ.

He made Himself simple for us.

He spoke through parables so we may understand.

Jesus is the Master Communicator and Lord of All.

He knows how to reach us.

But do we allow Him to?

It's time we did.

What happens when we Love and Obey God?

JESUS commands:

Luke 10:27

King James Version

27 And he answering said,

Thou shalt love the Lord thy God

with all thy heart,

and with all thy soul,

and with all thy strength,

and with all thy mind;

and thy neighbour as thyself.

What happens when we love, and obey God?

The best point of reference would be Jesus.

Here's what the Lord promises:

-- We will know if the doctrine  be of God.

John 7:17

King James Version

17 If any man will do his will,

he shall know of the doctrine,

whether it be of God,

or whether I speak of myself.

-- We shall be loved of the Father.

-- We shall be loved by Jesus.

-- Jesus will manifest Himself to us.

John 14:21

King James Version

21 He that hath my commandments,

and keepeth them,

he it is that loveth me:

and he that loveth me

shall be loved of my Father,

and I will love him,

and will manifest myself to him.

-- God will love us.

-- The Father and the Son will come unto us.

-- The Father and the Son will abode with us.

John 14:23

King James Version

23 Jesus answered and said unto him,

If a man love me,

he will keep my words:

and my Father will love him,

and we will come unto him,

and make our abode with him.

-- We become friends of Jesus.

John 15:14

King James Version

14 Ye are my friends

if ye do whatsoever I command you.

-- Whatever we ask of the Father in Jesus' name, God will give us.

John 15:16

King James Version

16 Ye have not chosen me,

but I have chosen you,

and ordained you,

that ye should go and bring forth fruit,

and that your fruit should remain:

that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father

in my name,

he may give it you.

-- We will be blessed.

Luke 11:28

King James Version

28 But he said,

Yea rather,

blessed are they

that hear the word of God

and keep it.

-- We shall enter into the kingdom of heavaen.

Matthew 7:21

King James Version

21 Not every one that saith unto me,

Lord, Lord,

shall enter into the kingdom of heaven

but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Why Does God Always Seem to Show Up at the Last Minute?

It seems so, doesn't it?

That God shows up at the last minute.

Just when your soul is depleted, your energy's gone, your heart's bereft, you're broke, you're broken, your relationships are broken, you're defeated, you're ill, that God seems to show up.

Might it not be because you've finally surrendered?

That you've finally decided, you need God's divine help?

That your human efforts have failed you?

That you're now ready to be helped, and corrected?

The moment you surrender to God is the day He can step in and help you.

That is God's golden opportunity to show you something.

The Bible shows that God does TWO things:

1. When people need help, God does this.

Ezekiel 20:42

King James Version

42 And ye shall know that I am the Lord,

when I shall bring you into the land of Israel

into the country for the which I lifted up mine hand

to give it to your fathers.

2. When people are rebellious, God does this.

Ezekiel 33:29

King James Version

29 Then shall they know that I am the Lord,

when I have laid the land most desolate

because of all their abominations

which they have committed.

The common denominator?

"And ye shall know that I am the Lord."

On, and on, God reminds us of that.

And on, and on, people refuse listen, nor acknowledge His power over our lives.

When God allows a situation, He's making a statement.

When God helps, He's making a statement.

When God punishes, He's making a statement.

So we shall know that He is the Lord.

Still, the lessons don't stick.

Does it really have to be this way?

That we suffer first, before God helps us?

Of course, how else can God step in, until the fullness of our actions have borne fruit, or destroyed the fruit?

After all, how many people listen to the Lord?

How many people pay attention to the teachings of Jesus?

What else would it take for us to surrender to God, shame-faced, and repentant, at our foolishness?

It's human nature to be ungrateful, and forgetful.

When all is well, we forget God.

When all goes south , we seek God.

It's only when we've lost all hope, do we remember God.

It's only when we're in near-panic, do we seek God's help.

We must not test the Lord.

Matthew 4:7

King James Version

7 Jesus said unto him,

It is written again,

Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

God always shows up at the last minute, because we only seek Him at the last minute.

When the Lord knows we've raised our white flags in complete humility, and surrender, He effortlessly steps in.

Once you've become born again, you realize the GRIEF we cause God, the FOLLY we bring upon our own lives, and the FUTILITY of rebellion against the ONLY POWER there is.

Malachi 3:6

King James Version

6 For I am the Lord,

I change not

therefore ye sons of Jacob

are not consumed.
